A considerable number of impurity indented bearings have been tested for life on the life tester recommended by the author. Figure 10 shows the relationship between the empirically determined life reduction factor induced by impurity indentation and the life reduction factor predicted by the method. For the bearing products recommended by the author, this model provides a practical link between the actual impurity indentation and subsequent fatigue damage.
