Current commercial solar panel devices use tracking technology to track the angle of sunlight and change the position of the panel to maximize solar energy. However, this new company's composite material technology uses another way of thinking. By increasing the use of the solar panel's light reflection and refraction characteristics, it captures light from various angles to obtain the maximum amount of solar energy.
The new material technology consists mainly of a series of small lenses that refract light and efficiently capture solar energy at various angles. The captured energy is transmitted to high-concentration cells in the panel. The top of the glass panel is coated with a large amount of this material. These materials enable solar panels to efficiently capture sunlight from all angles without having to track the sun's direction of change.
The technology is still in the development stage and there is still some distance from commercial scale production. However, the team claimed that if this technology is used, the cost of solar energy can be reduced from the current 8 cents per kilowatt-hour to 4 cents per kilowatt-hour. The cost is half that of current solar panel power generation devices.
