The thermal shock resistance of a refractories, that is, the ability to measure the resistance of a refracting material to damages caused by temperature changes during heating and cooling, has a great influence on the lifetime of the refractories. The thermal damage of refractories is mainly related to the thermal stress generated during use.

Chemical corrosion occurs at the grain boundaries of the refractory crystals, that is, the slag enters the grain boundaries and chemically reacts with the grain boundary minerals to make the low-melting impurities in the grain boundary become thicker and longer, and the refractory mineral crystals are gradually surrounded and dissociated by the liquid phase. A type of erosion is severer than in the previous case. The larger the size of the refractory mineral crystal, the smaller the amount of impurities in the refractory material, the thinner the crystal film, the more reasonable the grain boundary chemical composition, the more resistant the grain boundary minerals to slag, and the slag resistance of the refractory material. The stronger it is. Improve the density, reduce the porosity, reduce the air permeability, the stronger the slag resistance of the refractories.
