On August 6, 2011, at around 4:30 a.m., a severe traffic accident occurred on the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province. The first semi-trailer, bearing the license plate Yupei PE8977/P5171, veered into the opposite lane after overturning. A person on board died immediately. Another collision occurred between the overturned semi-trailer and a large freight truck with the license plate Yupei 6676. Meanwhile, a second semi-trailer with the plate Yu Tao PC5389/PN728 also became involved. A large truck with the plate Yushu PE6765 turned right and collided with the small passenger car Zhejiang CYB192, resulting in nine fatalities on the bus.
