Abstract According to the latest data from the World Steel Association, global crude steel production in July saw a 2.7% year-on-year increase, reaching 132.32 million tons—marking a new high for the same period and continuing the 11th consecutive month of growth. This upward trend reflects ongoing demand across multiple regions despite economic headwinds.
China’s crude steel output rose by 6.2% compared to the same period last year, hitting 65.47 million tons—the highest level ever recorded for July. This was the fourth-highest monthly output in the country's history. Despite slower domestic demand growth, Chinese steel producers have ramped up exports, which have now exceeded 5 million tons for five straight months. Meanwhile, in the U.S., steel production increased by 3.3% to 7.56 million tons, driven by strong car sales and residential construction activity. On the other hand, the European Union continued to face a downturn, with output falling 6% year-on-year to just 13.4 million tons—its 22nd consecutive month of decline. These figures highlight the mixed performance of the global steel industry, with some regions showing resilience while others struggle under economic pressures.
