What is Powder coating?

What is coating? Powder coating is a free-flowing, dry powder coating type coating. The main difference between the traditional liquid coatings and powder coatings is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and the filler member in the form of a liquid suspension. The coating is typically applied electrostatically, and then cured under heating, to enable it to flow and form a "skin." The powder may be a thermoplastic or thermosetting polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish, it is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating metals, such as household appliances, aluminum extrusions, drum hardware, automotive and bicycle parts. Newer technologallow other materials, such as MDF (medium density fiberboard), using different methods for the powder coating.
