Liebherr's new telescopic boom wheel cranes come out

Liebherr, Germany, plans to produce new telescopic cranes and 40t mobile cranes with a weight of 1000t. Dr. Ulrich Hamme, head of engineering at Liebherr-Werk Ehingen, explained that the new crane will be fitted with a 9-axis chassis and a 60m long main arm. The new model will start from the 800t LTM1800 to the high-end extended telescopic crane series.

Some LTM1800 buyers have added jibs and are marketed as 1000t cranes. The new Liebherr crane, which weighs 650 kg, is based on the experience of the recently developed 9tm model.

Herkules also teamed up with two Malaysian companies to establish MSH erkules SDN.BHD in southern Malaysia. It is scheduled to go into production in early 2006. The new company will produce cranes of various models, which will be sold to Malaysia, Indonesia and Abu Dhabi and neighboring countries, and will open an office in Abu Dhabi. A telescopic boom all-terrain crane with a lifting capacity of 40t is also under development.

The lifting capacity of the 2-axis LTM1040-2.1 is between 35t 2-axis LTM1030-2.1 and 45t 3-axis LTM1045-3.1. The new crane will be fitted with a 35m long, 4-section single-cylinder boom that can be extended and retracted under partial load conditions. The installation of the 9.5m side jib allows a maximum lifting height of 44m. As a replacement for the smaller LTM1030-2.1, the new LTM1040-2.1 has a higher German: According to the German Association of Construction Machinery and Building Materials Machinery (VDMA), German engineering equipment exports are expected to increase by 17% in 2005 to reach 7.2 billion Euro (694 million yuan). The total sales revenue of German manufacturers is expected to reach 9.7 billion euros, an increase of 12% over 2004. The proportion of exports increased from 71% in 2004 to 74% in 2005. According to VDMA President Christof Germany's exports soaring Dr. Kemmann's statistics, two-thirds of machinery manufacturers say their business is good or even satisfactory. Nearly 70% of companies in the industry expect to maintain at least 2005 levels in 2006.

Mr. Kemmann expects exports to grow at double-digit rates in 2006. German construction machinery exports are expected to increase by 15% in 2005 to 4.7 billion euros, while overseas construction materials machinery sales increased by 20% to 2.5 billion euros. A key factor in promoting growth is the demand for new EU member states. For example, sales of construction machinery exported to Poland increased by nearly 40% in 2005. In addition, China's recent rise has become a major export destination, along with Europe, Russia and the United States is the most important market for German industry. In addition to the increase in export volume, German manufacturers believe that domestic demand for construction machinery is very reasonable. In 2005, sales of construction machinery in the domestic market will increase by 3% to 1.9 billion euros. Construction machinery sales are expected to decline by 5%, with total sales of 630 million euros.

Despite the current optimistic outlook, Dr. Kemmann stressed that rising steel prices and tire shortages are major obstacles to the development of the industry. “When we tell users that we can only provide equipment, but not including tires, most users' reactions are unimaginable.” The long 5m boom has an average lifting capacity of 7%. The initial mechanical data sheet shows that with the main arm extending to 30.1 m, the LTM1040-2.1 with a maximum weight of 6.5 t can lift a 7.8 t weight 360° within 10 m. The maximum length of the main boom is 35m, and the maximum lifting capacity is 1t within 30m.
