This requires design companies and furniture companies to continue their efforts to improve product grades and brand image through design.
According to Hu Yongquan, secretary general of Sichuan Light Industry Designers Association, there are currently more than 60 Sichuan furniture design companies, mostly in the form of studios. Furniture companies also have certain criteria when selecting design companies. Sichuan furniture companies have paid more and more attention to design in the past two years, but there are two extremes: large furniture companies generally rely on coastal professional design companies, and small and medium-sized furniture companies will choose individual designers. This has caused some local design companies in Sichuan to "A land of use". In fact, furniture design and product positioning are inseparable. Choosing coastal design companies, they do not necessarily understand the characteristics of Sichuan furniture, they may not be able to express the brand connotation well, and they will increase costs. Local design companies have certain advantages in this regard, but only need to strengthen communication and cooperation with enterprises.
Quanyou: Set up three R & D centers in Chengdu, Shenzhen and Milan
Creative design is the driving force behind the rapid development of Sichuan furniture. According to the author's understanding, some large furniture brands attach great importance to creative design. For example, Quanyou Home's original two research and development bases in Chengdu and Shenzhen. In April 2011, Quanyou Milan Product R & D Center was established, raising the quality of Quanyou Home's products to a new level. As we all know, Milan is the birthplace of a new trend of furniture design in the world, and the importance that All Friends attaches to design is undoubtedly preparing for the high-end market.
Wu Tao, assistant general manager of Quanyou Home Furnishing and director of overseas business headquarters, told the author that design is not exclusive to a few people, good design should be owned by more people, and design should be popularized. Good ideas can change lives, bring consumers a better home experience, and even change consumers' lifestyles, so creative design cannot be ignored. For Sichuan furniture to take the high-end route, it is necessary to work hard on creativity.
However, Zhang Xiaoying, the top designer of the Sichuan furniture industry, said that the original furniture design of Sichuan furniture is relatively lagging and has been labeled as "low-end furniture". Sichuan furniture cannot follow the high-end route in a step-by-step manner. Without creative design, there is no high-end product.
Rong Yuwei, secretary general of Sichuan Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, also said that enhancing the independent innovation capabilities of furniture companies will be an important starting point for Sichuan furniture to transform into advanced manufacturing in the future.
Government funding of 100 million yuan to support industrial design
The author understands that, since the end of last year, the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have indicated that they will vigorously support industrial design and develop creative design industries, of which furniture design is the focus. The government will allocate 100 million yuan as industry construction funds every year, and the support is unprecedented. In the future, Chengdu will become a hot spot for creative design. A national furniture design center in Wuhou District, Chengdu is about to be built, which is good news for the Sichuan furniture industry.
Secretary-General Hu Yongquan of the Sichuan Light Industry Designers Association said that the first thing to be solved in Sichuan to develop the creative design industry is the talent issue. Every year, tens of thousands of art and design students graduate in Sichuan, but design institutions and production enterprises lack a large number of designer talents. Students cannot enter the work position without going out of school. This section requires professional institutions to guide and cooperate. To this end, after many inspections, the Sichuan Light Industry Federation decided to build a high-end training and employment output platform. It is expected that the platform will integrate 50 high-end design institutions nationwide and about 10 master-level designers into the training platform for in-depth cooperation, so that these institutions and personnel will participate in the training and project internship work. At the same time, let the students participate in the training to work in these institutions. This project has been highly valued by people in the industry, and many heads of creative design institutions have expressed their willingness to participate.
