Protective toe safety shoes, also known as safety boots, are specially designed footwear with a reinforced toe cap that provides impact resistance to protect the toes from potential injuries. These shoes are typically made from leather or other durable materials, ensuring both comfort and protection in hazardous environments.
The development of protective toe safety shoes in China began in the early 1980s. In 1983, the national standard "Leather Safety Shoes" (GB 4014-83) was officially approved. By 1993, the former Ministry of Labor updated the regulations based on international standards (ISO/CD 8782-1993), introducing the "Standard for Protective Toe Safety Shoes" (LD50-94).
To ensure quality and safety, these boots must meet specific technical requirements:
1. **General Technical Requirements**
- **Structure**: Includes components such as a steel inner header, toe cap padding, leather upper, eyelets, laces, heel guard, and an insole.
- **Outsole Thickness**: Varies depending on the type—direct injection or vulcanized soles must be at least 4mm thick, while full rubber or polymer soles need to be 6mm thick. The pattern depth should not be less than 3mm, and non-patterned areas must be at least 6mm.
- **Appearance Quality**: Must be free from defects such as uneven stitching, broken threads, discoloration, or misaligned hardware.
2. **Safety Performance**
- **Pressure Resistance**: A test involves placing a plasticine cylinder inside the toe cap and applying pressure to measure deformation.
- **Impact Resistance**: A weighted hammer is dropped onto the toe cap to assess its ability to withstand impacts.
- **Inner Header Resistance**: Similar to the toe cap test, but the inner header must deform by at least 22mm.
- **Corrosion Resistance**: Metal inner headers are tested by exposing them to salt solution for 48 hours, ensuring no more than 5 corrosion spots, each under 2.5 mm².
**Product Classification**
- **By Material**: Includes anti-skull, cow suede, pig suede, smooth-faced, canvas, and plastic-surfaced safety boots.
- **By Craft**: Can be molded, glued, sewn, or made using compound processes. Most modern production uses injection molding or adhesives.
**Specifications**
These boots come in low, high, half, and full-leg styles. They are categorized into five levels (An1 to An5) based on their impact and compression resistance. Sizes range from 22 to 28.5, with variations in width.
**Design Features**
A curved inner header enhances flexibility and comfort, while sponge padding at the back of the boot protects the ankle. These features improve wearability and durability.
**Inspection Standards**
Safety shoes must pass tests for outsole resistance, abrasion, peel strength, and impact resistance. If more than two items fail, the product is consideredä¸åˆæ ¼ (unqualified). For sample testing, five units are checked, with only one allowed to fail besides the critical tests.
