Causes and prevention of tomato leaf curling

The leaves of tomato are curled and shrunk, which often occur in the growing season. The cause of curling is complicated. Except for the characteristics of the few varieties of leaf curling, most of them are caused by environmental conditions or viral diseases.
Unsuitable environmental conditions cause leaf curling to be a physiological disease, leaf curling occurs on the leaves of the whole plant; while virus disease causes leaf curling to be caused by invasive diseases, leaf curling only occurs in the top new leaves, lower part Old leaves are not easily affected.
First, the reasons for blade curling
1. Topping and pruning are too early. It is easy to make the axillary buds grow prematurely, and the phosphoric acid in the leaves is nowhere to be transported, resulting in aging of the leaves and a large amount of curling.
2, high temperature, drought. After entering the peak period, it encounters high temperature and dry weather and cannot replenish water in time. At this time, the leaf area is large, high temperature and strong light make the leaf transpiration strengthen, and the lower leaves of the plant are prone to curling. In greenhouse cultivation, curling at the middle and late growth stages, especially at the vents, tends to occur more easily.
3. Improper fertilization. Excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer will cause the leaflets to turn over and curl; severe phosphorus deficiency, potassium deficiency and lack of trace elements such as calcium and boron will cause the leaves to be stiff, the leaves to curl, or the leaves to be small and deformed.
4, caused by viral diseases. Tomatoes are prone to viral diseases, causing leaves to chlorotic, smaller, and wrinkled leaves. The blade is curled up, which is mostly expressed on the heart leaf and the upper leaf, and is easy to occur under high temperature and strong light.
5, 2.4-D phytotoxicity. When the 2.4-D silk flower is used in the flowering period, the concentration is too large or sprinkled on the leaves, which will cause the leaf to be rolled. In addition, spring cultivation in the field, spraying 2.4-D butyl ester on the surrounding wheat field to prevent weeds in the wheat field, the liquid floating is also easy to cause phytotoxicity, resulting in blade deformity curling.

Second, prevention and treatment methods
1. Strengthen the management of fertilizer and water. Add fertilized high-quality farmyard manure to prevent excessive nitrogen fertilizer and balance fertilization. Avoid excessive drought, do not pour large water after drought, especially pay attention to watering at noon at high temperature, because the ground temperature suddenly drops after watering, the root system can not adapt to sudden changes, water absorption is inhibited, causing physiological drought and increasing curling.
2. Strengthen the management of greenhouse cultivation. According to the growth and development of tomato, the temperature and humidity should be regulated, especially in the middle and late growth stages. The soil should be kept moist and the shed should not be too dry.
3. Use antiviral diseases. Control aphids in time and cut off the route of transmission. When a viral disease occurs, timely use of drugs for prevention and treatment.
4, when using 2.4-D concentration should not be too large, do not sprinkle the liquid on the blade, or you can use the "tomato spirit" silk flower.
5, timely picking, pruning. Topping and collateral shaping should be based on the growth of the plant, and maintain a reasonable leaf area, both to control the prosperous and prevent premature aging.
